ABLE is adding Designated Coordinators to the current team of 4. This was a newly created position in 2011.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in a Human Service field which meets QDDP qualifications. 
  • The equivalent of one year of full-time experience in the field, acquired within no more than a two year period. 
  • The ability to work independently and as a team player embracing and carrying out ABLE’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. 
  • An acceptable driving record based on service needs.
  • 35 hours per week at $16.00 per hour.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATION:

  1. Communicate effectively with Program Directors, Supervisors, families, and other team members; demonstrating leadership qualities that promote positive and professional relationships.
  2. Develop and maintain Individual Assessment/Risk Management Plans of the people supported in compliance with licensing requirements.
  3. Assist with overseeing the implementation of Plans of Protection as appropriate.
  4. Plan, write, and implement both formal and informal program plans and procedures.
  5. Orient employees to the program process as needed. 
  6. Obtain, interpret, and maintain accumulated data as required.
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs per licensing regulations.
  8. Develop Behavior Support Programs that are positive and respectful utilizing the Physical Intervention Alternative (PIA) process and philosophy.
  9. Be an active member on the Interdisciplinary Team.
  10. Schedule and facilitate all team meetings and complete necessary documentation as required.
  11. Administer or facilitate the administration of assessments of each person as required.
  12. Maintain data and files in an organized manner for prompt retrieval.
  13.  Complete and maintain necessary documentation for psychotropic medication monitoring as required.

 

PEOPLE SUPPORTED:

  1. Advocate for people supported by evaluating the effectiveness of programs used, the person’s quality of life, and offering feedback that would lead to a more desirable future.
  2. Demonstrate respect for each person’s right to dignity, privacy, individualized attention, and choice.
  3. Be knowledgeable of the vulnerabilities and needs of all people supported; demonstrating the ability to implement all plans of protection relating to those vulnerabilities.
  4. Be knowledgeable of the capacities, gifts and interests of all people supported; demonstrating the ability to advocate on behalf people supported.
  5. Demonstrate consistent use of behavior intervention and management techniques in a manner that is respectful and as least intrusive as possible.
  6. Communicate respectfully with people supported in a manner consistent with each person’s abilities and needs.

 

STAFF SUPERVISON AND SUPPORT:

  1. Recognize staffs’ skills and abilities and provide positive feedback on a regular basis to enhance work performance.
  2. Orient newly hired employees to the IA/RMP and programs of people supported.
  3. Supervise staff and evaluate work performance in a timely and professional manner as needed.
  4. Plan and participate in in-service education and training.
  5. Assume on-call responsibilities as assigned.
  6. Assure adequate staffing to meet the needs of people supported.

 

GENERAL WORK BEHAVIOR:

  1. Be flexible with all aspects of the position, such as a change in hours, caseload and location.
  2. Offer constructive feedback to supervisory staff regarding employee job performance.
  3. Dress in a manner appropriate to the activities of the job.
  4. Follow both oral and written communication.
  5. Balance team and individual responsibilities; exhibit objectivity and openness to others and give and welcome constructive feedback.
  6. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; develop alternative solutions and work well in group problem solving situations.
  7. Model positive and professional approaches to program development and advocacy skills with staff and people supported.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of people supported, other employees and agency operations.
  9. Be actively involved in at least one agency committee.
  10.  Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

 

TRAINING:

  1. Interpret and follow policies and procedures identified in the Policy Manual; support Agency goals and support ABLE, Inc.’s Affirmative Action Plan.
  2. Receive training and comply with the policies and procedures outlined in the AWAIR Plan.
  3. Attend and participate in all Agency staff meetings or arrange to complete any required follow up in a timely manner. 
  4. Maintain current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Trained Medication Administration (TMA).
  5. Obtain and maintain Physical Intervention Alternatives (PIA) Instructor Certification and train employees as required.
  6. Utilize emergency and safety procedures effectively and in a timely manner.

Training Opportunities

ABLE, Inc., provides and pays for all orientation, upon hire. A variety of topics are covered including the Minnesota Maltreatment Act, Rights of the People Supported, Universal Precautions for Infection Control, Emergency Procedures, and “hands on” training within the homes of the people supported.

ABLE, Inc., is committed to providing continued training and educational opportunities related to the services being performed as part of the employee’s duties. These trainings include but are not limited to:

  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • Physical Intervention Alternatives
  • Trained Medication Aide Certification

Other training opportunities are also available and offered throughout the course of employment. Most internal trainings are conducted by current ABLE, Inc., employees who have had the opportunity to become certified to teach the course.
